Thakazhi Sivasankaran Pillai malayalam writer alappuzha kerala

Thakazhi Sivasankaran Pillai, (1912-1999) was a novelist and short story writer in Malayalam.
Has written about 35 novels and 600 short stories. He is popularly known as Thakazhi, after his place of birth. married to katha, who has had a great influence on his writing.

His famous works are Chemeen and Kayar. He won the highest literary award instituted by the Indian goverment, the Gyanpith. His screenplay for chemeen won him the presidents gold medal.
Chemmeen was translated into 27 odd Indian and foreign languages, and went to many reprints. Chemmeen was translated into 12 foreign languages under the auspices of Unesco, and sold millions of copies in the United States, England, Russia, France and many European countries.
His magnum opus Kayar (Yarn) was also a best seller.

Rice - paddy cultivation in alappuzha kerala

harvest of ‘puncha ’  ,paddy crop at the paddy fields of the Chithira kayal (lake)  will be done on 15th march 2015.
It was after a gap of two decades that paddy cultivation was resumed in the region four months ago.

Chithira Lake paddy fields are situated in Kainakary in alappuzha district kerala.

Rani Lake fields are adjacent to this field.

Thakazhi museum alappuzha

Sankaramangalam the house where thakazhi lived which is situated 22 km from Alappuzha has been converted to a museum-cum-memorial hall dedicated to the memory of the late Thakazhi Sivasankaran Pillai (1912-1999), the famous writer who won the Jnanpeeth award in 1984, and whose writings include 35 novels and 600 short stories.
. The takazhi smaraka samithi looks after the affairs of the museum. The museum is open from 0930 - 1630 hrs except on Mondays and national holidays

 K.H. Neelakanta Iyer, a class 8 student of Nair Samajam Higher Secondary School, Mannar, was adjudged the best student for establishing a vegetable farm in his home.
Haritha Leader Cluster of Kattukada, Cherthala, has been selected for the best cluster award.
The Government J.B.S., Venmony, best in governmental  establishments
S.N. Trust Higher Secondary School, Cheriyanad  best in  non-governmental establishments.
 Suja George of Chengannur has been selected as the best agriculture assistant director.
